Description: Beacon Mutual Insurance is in need of Nurse Case Manager - Registered Nurse (RN) - Daytime Hours - No Weekends/Holidays! right now, this occupation will be placed in Rhode Island. This position, is part field based/part in-house, and involves time spent with the injured worker and medical providers during the injured workers medical rehabilitation. Position involves driving your car to meet injured workers in the community; attending medical appointments as needed; and thus establishing good working relationships with medical providers and other Workers Compensation ! professionals.
The Nurse Consultant is charged with h! andling catastrophic claims and will act as an advocate to the injured worker in facilitating treatment. This position will adhere to the standards of care set by the state board of nursing, State Nurse Practice Act and other governing agency regulations.
Responsibilities include providing medical consultation to internal staff by assessing and interpreting medical evaluations and test results; discussing treatment plan options with medical providers, preparing case files; monitoring outcomes; and when appropriate facilitating return to work plan by consulting with all parties to the claim including claim staff, injured worker, employer, provider, etc.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and two years related nursing experience. Current Rhode Island RN license. The following designationsâ€" Certified Case Manager; Certified Disability Management Specialist, Certified Occupational Health Nurse (or similar national certification) respectfully acknowledged. Must have excell! ent communication skills in order to build and foster relationships and to deal effectively with medical providers and internal staff. Strong Internet and Microsoft Office skills necessary to document decisions and to research medical information. Ability to work as a team member with the common goal of providing care and treatment.
