This position serves as a Program Security Specialist (PSS) in support of Special Access Programs (SAP) at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division in Newport, RI (NUWCDIVNPT).

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.

Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance.

Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation.

Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

This position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP).

You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.

DUTIES:

  • Responsible f! or supporting and assisting with implementing the Naval Unders! ea Warfare Center, Division Newport Special Access Program security program.
  • Engage in security oversight and ensure compliance with all applicable Department of Defense and Department of Navy Special Access Program governing policies and directives, Program Security Guides, and Naval Undersea Warfare Center Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Act as a team member responsible for Special Access Program personnel information, physical security, and technical security actions and procedures.
  • Develop and implement effective Special Access Program policies and procedures for routine operations and non-routine situations.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Ass isting in implementing a command or corporate special security program;
  • Ensuring that personnel adhere to established special secu rity regulations governing the handling, inventory, and/or destruction of classified information and documents;
  • Conducting or managing personnel, information, physical, a! nd technical security actions and procedures;
  • Preparing , send! ing and receiving security documentation for facility visitor requests;
  • Providing security awareness training;
  • R eporting and assisting in investigating security incidents;
  • Communicating security matters with internal and external security professionals, managers , and technical personnel.
OR

  • A master 's degree or 2 full years of progressively h igher level graduate education leading to a master 's degree or equivalent degree related to the position that meets the basic requirements for this position.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify. The Selective Placement Factor is experience as a security specialist assigned to a Special Access Program (SAP). Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating. Possession of the factor must be verifiable via your resume.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

A security clearance is a requirement of this position, you must be able to obtain a top secret clearance upon acceptance of this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a position offer or removal. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Employees currently in a TDP will not be subject to a drug test prior to placement in this position. Employees NOT currently in a TDP will be subject to a drug test prior to placement in this position. The selectee will be subjected to periodic random drug test.
