Description : The Nursing Assistant assists in caring for patients and/or families from admission to discharge. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age-specific needs of the patients. Qualifications : High school graduate or General Equivalent Diploma. Current RI registration as a Certified Nursing Assistant with current certification in Basic Life Support. Read, write, and speak English; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to identify and report unsafe situations to the Registered Nurse. Ability to perform responsibilities in emergency/code situations, including CPR. Reading and mathematical abilities in order to perform and record tests, observe IV's, restock emergency carts, etc., and maintain an environment conducive to patient comfort and safety. Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, visitors, physicians, and Hospital staff of all levels. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process. For inpatient setting: One year experience in a hospital or long term care setting and/or currently enrolled in an NLN accredited academic program leading to a degree in Nursing. For outpatient setting: One year experience in an outpatient office setting and/or currently enrolled in an NLN accredited academic program leading to a degree in Nursing.
