This Term position is located in the Facilities Maintenance Department of the U.S. Naval War College, in Newport, RI. The U.S. Naval War College has four distinct missions; Develop strategic and operational leaders; Help CNO (Chief of Naval Operations) define the future Navy and its roles and mission; Support combat readiness; and Strengthen Maritime security cooperation. This is a Term appointment, Not To Exceed (NTE) 13 months, but may be extended up to four years based on the needs of the command.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must be a US Citizen.

Pre-employment physical is required.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.

Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Call back and emergency overtime are regular requirements of this position

You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.

DUTIES:

  • Perform a variety of carpentry tasks.
  • Plan work and determine materials.
  • Plan and execute minor renovation projects.
  • Maintain buildings and structures.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Carpenter without more than normal supervision such as: Experience performing carpentry work, under normal supervision, such as determining material and equipment needs; accomplishing work sequences ranging from basic repairs to routine projects; completing work that requires close tolerances, precise fit and a finished appearance; working from written or oral directions; using blueprints, work orders and sketches to complete the job.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

U.S. citizenship is required.
