PLEASE NOTE: This position supports operations in our Northeast region and requires residency in this area (MA, NJ, PA).

This position provides validation, evaluation, education, and consultation services utilizing the Joint Commission (JC) standards, Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Regulations, licensing requirements, Kindred policies and protocols, and Kindred’s Compliance Program. Assesses and reports the hospital’s/unit’s/agency’s degree of compliance with applicable requirements, and provides consultation and training on related topics.

Essential Functions:
Conducts site visits, including unannounced, of hospitals and Mock Surveys of CARF-accredited programs.

Coordinates hospital/unit/agency visits, acts! as team leader when assigned. Reviews all pre-visit informati! on and identifies specific priority focus processes for survey.

Utilizes the Patient Tracer Methodology to assess and evaluate a hospital’s/unit/agency’s compliance with standards and requirements and systems of providing care and services. Reviews and analyzes documents such as policies and procedures, meeting minutes, committee reports, Governing Board meeting minutes, Quality Council meeting minutes, etc. to assess compliance to the Joint Commissionand/or CARF standards, Kindred policies and other licensing agency requirements.

Provides “on the spot” consultation and training related to findings. Conducts daily briefings and closing conference with the leadership team.

Completes accurate, organized written reports of observations and findings in a timely manner. Assists in aggregating and analyzing findings by region and by the respective division.

Provides validation and consultative services for the Hospital Division (HD), Re! habCare (RHC), or Home Health & Hospice (HHH), region and hospital/unit/agency leadership in the areas of compliance, quality and regulatory matters.

Conducts District, Regional and/or Divisional meeting presentations and education on various subjects including summary of consultation findings, quality improvement and regulatory topics.

Maintains current knowledge of the JC, CARF standards, CMS regulatory and licensing requirements, and quality improvement methods.

Maintains current knowledge of HD, RHC, and HHH policies and protocols.

Monitors hotline quality issues for assigned region/sites and if indicated, provides guidance to hospital/unit/agency, district, and regional leadership to ensure thorough investigation and correct action.

Validate the medical necessity process in the free-standing rehabilitation hospitals (IRF).

Collaborates with HD leadership to ensure free-standing hospitals are in compliance/conformanc! e to TJC, CARF, and CMS standards and licensing requirements.

! Collaborates with RehabCare leadership to ensure the CARF standards are met for the RehabCare HRS â€" Acute Rehabilitation Units (ARUs).

Conducts a quantitative audit in Kindred-owned facilities of workers compensation process.

Validates the IDT process within the Hospital Division.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge and experience in healthcare operations (preferably in long term acute care, acute rehabilitation, and/or home health & hospice, clinical practice and use of quality improvement methods.

Excellent communication (interpersonal) skills. Customer service focus, responsive to verbal and nonverbal communication cues.

Independent decision-making skills; can effectively manage the review process as a team leader and team member, and can conduct the screening process independently.

Approximate percent of time required to travel is 75%.

Qualifications

Health Care Professional with Bach! elor's degree in a related field. Prefer a Master's level degree.

A registered nurse or licensed therapist (physical, occupational, or speech) is preferred.

5+ years of recent experience in the health care field. Experience in long term acute care, acute rehabilitation, and/or home health/hospice preferred.
