TITLE: School-Nurse Teacher QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Rhode Island certification as a Nurse/Teacher.2.Experience with a special needs population.3.Such alternatives to the above qualificatio! ns as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO: Executive Director or their designeeJOB GOAL: To provide the fullest possible educational opportunity for each Northern Rhode Island Collaborative (NRIC) student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in the NRIC classes. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Conduct school health service, including physical examinations, immunizations, and tests for hearing and vision.2. Assume responsibility for selection and referral of students in need of medical and dental care.3.Report to parents, school personnel, physician, clinics, and other agencies on school medical matters.4.Maintain up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.5.Observe students on a regular basis to detect health needs.6.Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness.7.Visit students’ homes, when necessary. 8.P! articipate with school staff in developing and implementing to! tal school health program.9.Contact homes of children referred to the NRIC.10.Advise on modification of the educational program to meet health needs of individual students.11.Prepare and submit reports for the superintendents and the State Board of Health.12.Authorize exclusion and re-admission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.13.Advise teachers on health matters, particularly regarding screening for students health defects.14.Assist school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools.15.Attend committee meetings and conferences regarding health services and health curriculum.16.Participate in in-service training programs.17.Perform other duties as required by the Director of the Collaborative or his/her designee.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As established by the Board of Directors SALARY: As per contract
