The Nurse Practitioner provides expanded role nursing care within the scope of his/her license under the supervision of the attending physician. He/She clinically manages a team of general medicine adult inpatients. The Nurse Practitioner will perform daily rounds, write orders, document daily progress notes, perform and document history and physicals on new admissions and maintain ongoing communications with the attending physician throughout the day. He/She will also be responsible for dictating history and physicals and discharge summaries. The Nurse Practitioner will adhere to the highest standards of quality care and documentation. He/She will also participate in regular evaluation and improvement processes such as peer review to enhance clinical performance and patient outcomes.

Education: Graduate of a Masters Degree Nursing Practitioner Program accredited by the NLN required.

Experience: 2-3 years experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred.

License/Registration/Certification: Current Rhode Island licensure required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to assess, diagnose, develop plans of care and implement care for general medicine patients. Utilize skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making. Ability to communicate, collaborate with other disciplines and delegate effectively.

Special Qualifications: self-motivation, commitment to continuing education and professional accountability required.
