Job Type: Full Time Position Summary:
The Patient Safety Director will be responsible for administering the Patie! nt Safety program on a day-to-day basis for assigned CVS Caremark healthcare business unit (s). Functions include investigation of patient and healthcare provider related events, managing and analyzing data, facilitating the root cause analysis process, conducting patient safety educational programs, collaborating with Risk Management within the policies and procedures of appropriate information exchange, comply with health and safety related standards by the Joint Commission and other accrediting and regulatory agencies including the FDA, DEA, DPH, State Board of Nursing or Pharmacy with the objective of enhancing patient and healthcare provider safety, promoting quality care, and minimizing loss to protect the assets of the corporation. The Director incorporates and utilizes methods to improve all aspects of patient safety and quality within the CVS Caremark Healthcare business units. The Director will review event reports, provide advice and support to healthcare provide! rs in the field, analyze clinical processes, identify potentia! l risks for patients and healthcare providers and develop strategies to maximize safety, effectiveness and efficiency. Required Qualifications:
1. Strong clinical background and critical thinking skills are essential in a fast-paced environment with dynamic growth and ever-changing needs. 2. Must be able to solve problems, assess situations and make decisions independently at times in an autonomous environment. 3. Must be able to lead an investigation and root cause analysis that includes medical providers, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, clinical management, administrators and others when a serious event such as death or severe bodily injury occurs. 4. Must be able to communicate effectively with team members in all areas and at all levels of the organization to achieve project objectives, while working cross functionally. 5. Must be able to write educational materials and develop content focused on risk management and patient safety. Preferred Qualifications:
