Description: Paul Cuffee School is in need of School Nurse Teacher right now, this vacancy will be placed in Rhode Island. Overview: Provide nursing services, health education and school-wide health care support to our growing school community.Duties: ?Staff the nurse’s office and respond to emergent medical needs in ! the building.?Promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases through sharing of information on preventive immunization programs, early detection, surveillance, and reporting of contagious diseases.?Screen and evaluate findings of deficit in vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth, blood pressure, etc. and maintain a follow-up for referrals to doctors or health services. ?Observe students at the request of school personnel for development and health patterns.?Check students for symptoms of disease, infection, or parasites then send appropriate letters or makes phone calls as needed. ?Initiate referrals to parents, school personnel, and community health resources for intervention, redemption, and follow-through.?Utilize existing health resources to provide appropriate care of students.?Plan and implement school health management protocols for the child with chronic health problems, including the administration of medication.?Develop crisis intervention procedures for a! cute illness, injury, and emotional disturbances.?Work closely! with administration, social worker, teachers, and staff to create and implement care plans for students.?Know, follow and implement all Rhode Island School Health regulations.?Teacher health classes as assigned, including working closely with Health department to create curriculum, align instruction, and support student learning.?Honors confidentiality?Other duties as assigned.Skills & Characteristics: ?Exemplary instructional and classroom management skills?High level of personal organization and planning?Deep knowledge and experience with nursing and health management.?Excellent communication skills with diverse constituents (teachers, parents, students, board members); clear writer, facilitator and public speaker?Proven ability to proactively lead by example, effectively m?Team player; maturity, humility, strong work ethic, follow-through, sense of humor, flexibility, and willingness to do what is needed for the community.?Excitement and eagerness to be a part of a star! t-up community, Qualifications: ?RI Certification as a school nurse/teacher ?Experience working with urban youth?Experience in school health programs.
