Our Medical Center is located in Providence, RI with outpatient clinics located in Middletown, RI, Hyannis and New Bedford, MA. We provide high quality comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care to Veterans residing in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. Rhode Island, also known as the Ocean State, offers a range of lifestyles to those seeking the advantages of an exciting city or a relaxing country setting.

This Registered Nurse position is located in Nursing Service at the Medical Center and is a bargaining unit position.

Applicant's e! ducation and experience will be reviewed by a Professional Sta! ndards Board to determine the grade and salary of the applicant selected. The recommended salary will be at any point in the range listed for this vacancy.

This is a permanent part-time position. The work schedule is:
Nights, 24 hours a week

KEY REQUIREMENTS

U.S. Citizenship

Full unrestricted Registered Nurse Licensure

Subject to a background/suitability investigation

Must pass a pre-employment physical examination

Designated and random drug testing may be required

Must be proficient in spoken and written English

DUTIES:
Cares for emergent and non-emergent patients

Provides advanced cardiac monitoring.

Assesses both physical and mental conditions quickly

Identifies normal vs. abnormal findings and reports abnormal findings as warranted.

I! ndentifies and manages life-sustaining physiologic functions in unstable patients.

Uses critical thinking to intervene with appropriate intervention for urgent/emergent care.

Cares for acute and chronically ill patients

Uses phlebotomy skills, basic IV and central line skills.

Uses knowledge of hemodynamics.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Basic Requirements:
Graduate of a state approved, National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)/Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited school of Nursing.

Active, current, full and unrestricted Registered Nurse License.

Registered Nurses appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by United States Code 7402 (d) and 7407 (d).

Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or a field related to! nursing.

Minimum of 2 years of Telemetry experience as a Regi! stered Nurse.

Proficiency in Basic Cardiac Rhythm Recognition.

Critical care experience as a Registered Nurse.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Demonstrated ability to be self-directed.

Demonstrated effectiveness in problem solving and decision making.

Experience using an Electronic Medical Record.

Highly-motivated, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, dependable, flexible and a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, pushing, and sitting at a keyboard. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to d! on protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs and able to manage work activities in a highly technological integrated work environment.
